A Letter from Rebecca

Over the weekend I took the opportunity to re-read Children of the Light, Friend Seminary 1786-1986 by Nancy Reid Gibbs ’78, which was commissioned by Principal Joyce McCray to celebrate the School’s bicentennial in 1986. Its aim was to chronicle “the major themes” of the previous 200 years. Nancy, who would go on to be the Managing Editor of Time, devoted a year to researching and writing the book. Curiously, the Flu Pandemic of 1918 is not referenced. It will be interesting to see how the COVID-19 pandemic will be remembered. As always, thank you for your interest and support for Friends!
