At the 2022 Race to Deliver on November 20, a stalwart team of 36 runners from Friends Seminary raised almost $7,000 for God’s Love We Deliver (GLWD). One participant comments, “Parents and students braved the freezing temperatures on the four mile course in Central Park for a worthy cause!”
For more than 25 years, the Friends community has supported GLWD’s mission to prepare and deliver nutritious, high-quality meals to people who, because of their illness, are unable to provide or prepare meals for themselves. In November, Friends holds a bag decorating event. More than 1,000 bags will be hung in the Meetinghouse for the entire community to enjoy during the holiday season. Afterwards, the bags will be taken to GLWD, filled with nutritious holiday meals, and delivered to New Yorkers living with severe illnesses.
Specialist for Service Learning and Civic Engagement, Annah Heckman ’15 (pictured below) comments, ‘’As an alumna, it was a hugely meaningful part of my experience, and it’s a joy to help to facilitate this tradition in partnership with the Parent’s Association.”
