Friends Seminary is proud to recognize the remarkable achievements of our students across a variety of disciplines, from mathematics and history to literature and the performing arts. These outstanding students exemplify Friends Seminary’s commitment to academic excellence, creative expression, and intellectual exploration.
Mathematical Prowess on Display
Our mathematicians have once again demonstrated their problem-solving excellence at the 8th Annual Downtown Mathematics Invitational, with a special congratulations to Daniel ’25, who secured an impressive 4th place in the individual competition.
Additionally, we celebrate our students who participated in the American Mathematics Competition (AMC), a prestigious event fostering mathematical innovation for students worldwide. This year’s AMC scholars include:
Class of 2028: Liav, Sian, Harris, Owen, Jerry, Charlie, Melina, Tanner, Lucas, Dominique
Class of 2027: Anna, Samantha, Chase, Nate, Lorelei, Finn
Class of 2026: Emmett, Michael, Aliyah, Sam, Sai, Jonah, Annika, Yale
Class of 2025: August, Daniel, Lucy
A Historic Achievement

August ’25 has earned an extraordinary distinction—his research paper on the relationship between university scientists and the U.S. military during World War II and the Cold War has been accepted for publication in The Concord Review, an internationally recognized journal showcasing exemplary high school historical research. His work will appear in the March 2025 issue—an honor granted to only 6% of submissions. August’s Advanced U.S. History teacher, Susannah Walker, praised his intellectual curiosity and rigorous scholarship, noting that his work stands out among even the most impressive research papers she has seen.
Shakespeare Comes to Life
Friends Seminary students shone at the ESU National Shakespeare Competition, where Louis ’25 took first place with a moving soliloquy from Hamlet, and Sascha ’26 impressed as runner-up. This competition, now in its 41st year, offers students the chance to deepen their understanding of Shakespeare through performance, honing their analytical and communication skills.
Literary and Artistic Recognition
A heartfelt congratulations to the students who received regional recognition from the NYC Scholastic Awards, presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. Their creative works were selected from among thousands of submissions, joining a prestigious legacy of past winners, including Stephen King, Joyce Carol Oates, Andy Warhol, and Tschabalala Self.
