This fall parents introduced two new pot luck dinners for families, in partnership In Parents Association Diversity & Inclusion Committee. On November 27th a Diwali Celebration and Family Potluck was held in the Great Room. Students, parents, faculty and staff gathered to celebrate the Diwali, the Festival of Lights, share food, culture and fellowship. Guests enjoyed dance performances featuring Friends students Sejal ‘25 and Kavi ‘29, community members were on hand to design henna tattoos for attendees, and there was a coloring activity for the youngest Friends.

On December 15 families hosted a Family Shabbat Potluck also celebrating community and the beauty of light. Emceed by Dance Teacher Barry Blumenfeld, the evening featured tzedakah (charity) box crafts, games, blessings and a performance of Matchmaker by members of last year’s cast from Fiddler on the Roof. Head of School Bo Lauder comments, “Both events celebrate community and are sure to become welcomed annual fixtures on the school’s calendar.”

On Friday, April 12 Muslim families and friends are invited to attend the Eid Potluck Dinner that celebrates light, culture and togetherness at the end of Ramadan.
